Can Different Sizes and Shapes of Coils be Upended on One Machine?

Mechanical turners provide an easy & efficient way to upend different sizes & shapes of coils on one machine using one setup on a coil upender. Supports mounted in pits allow platforms to be aligned with ground for loading & interaction with workers.

Can Different Sizes and Shapes of Coils be Upended on One Machine?

The turners, also known as coil positioners, are used to rotate steel, aluminum, non-ferrous coils and other heavy and bulky loads up to 90 degrees. They provide an efficient way to dump metal coils, molds, dies and other loads. The mechanical tilter is designed to turn items that are significantly smaller than the other. The PALLET PLATFORM LENGTH by WIDTH is 60” x 60” and the BASE LENGTH is 48”.

The platforms of the vertical support are designed to interact with the handling device that establishes or removes the load. All surfaces that come into contact with the coil are covered with a high-density microplate for protection. The turners are used in a variety of production and maintenance applications. In most cases, when a curse is heard on a coil feed line, operators will most likely be involved in the frustrating process of threading the material. The clamping roller is lowered, the straps of the coil are cut off and the peeler blade is extended to detach the front edge of the coil.

Although not included in this line, a trimming shear could be placed in this position to remove both the head and the tail of the coils or take samples from the entire coil for metallurgical testing. A motorized V-saddle can smoothly move a coil and adjust it to the pallet before tipping it over. Mechanical reducers are available in standard configurations or can be custom designed for your particular application. This line has a seven-roll straightener (rollers) which provides material with a flatness suitable for smooth feeding to the subsequent equipment. Optional equipment may also include an edge trimmer to trim the coil in width before cutting it to length. Designed for critical surface applications, this line is designed to process critical surface stainless steel, while incorporating technology to accelerate and simplify the loading and centering of coils.

The coils reach the line with their eyes set on the sky and are placed face up by a forklift or an overhead crane. Then, the material is introduced into the input roller and into the straightener, where the set of coils of the material is removed. Mechanical turners provide an easy and efficient way to upend different sizes and shapes of coils on one machine using one setup on a coil upender. Supports mounted in pits allow platforms to be aligned with the ground to facilitate loading or interaction with workers. Although this line has a seven-roll straightener (rollers), additional smoothing rollers or a leveler will provide greater capacity to remove the set of coils.
